Show of hands for CMaker5

Thanks to Ike and Tom I am on my way to a better understanding of OpenSource licenses. I will continue to ponder over the next few days which license would suite better CMaker5.

I've looked around and I found no "ERP" framework or project built around ColdFusion.

Is this lack of offering a sign that there is no need for such a solution or simply because no one ever worked on such project, let alone making it publicly available.

I'd like a show of hands from people that at one point in time looked for such solution or will be in the near future or simply think that it would be interesting to have such a project available on sites like RiaForge or others.

Thanks

Yves

Pardon me for my ignorance.

Can you provide us with some use cases where we might be able to take advantage of the ERP you'll be 'giving away'?

Will you be providing detailed documentations? 'cause my perception of an ERP are often super complex?

Do you think you'll have time to do an online meetup (@ http://www.meetup.com/coldfusionmeetup) to introduce the CF community what your software is capable of doing? I think you will get great feedback during the meeting and after the meeting if we can have an introduction to your software.

Henry,

A few things:

1- I am at an early stage of considering opensourcing "parts" of CMaker5.

2- At this point the Order - Shipping- Invoicing modules would be available. No Inventory, MRP etc.

3- We do have documentation written in French for our main customer. English documentation would follow

4- I'll consider the meetup once I will have published CMaker5 Lite to describe exactly what went OpenSource version and what else CybleTechnologies can offer to paying customer

Please continue to follow this blog for the moment as I will blog on my progress in this project.

I do not plan to rush anything. I need to carefully evaluate the interest, the work required and the long term implications of all this.

I've looked for such a solution, but I think a framework handling all types of ERP systems is going to be difficult, since the systems, and their implementations, can be vastly different.

That said, I'd be interested in what you come up with.
